native daughters du vermont

Vermont Native Daughers unites Franco-American and Anglo-American Vermont traditional song and music traditions in this exciting new project. With songs from the colletions of Martha Pellerin, Michele's family, and from Deb Flander's great-aunt Helen Hartness Flanders, as well as a back up band of top traditional musicians, Deb and Michele share and swap the lead vocal spotlight. The Vermont Native Daughters project is a unique cooperative culture exhibit of the two native Vermont music traditions in which Deb and Michele grew up. While there has historically been tension between the Anglo and Franco cultures, Michele and Deb demonstrate that together as the Vermont Native Daughters, there is a place for these two traditions side by side. The Native Daughters project is supported in part by a grant from the Vermont Arts Council
